Hi! Welcome to Fake Believe!

Hello to the wonderful listeners of Fake Believe: Conspiracies, Cults, & Cryptids! We really appreciate you taking the time to stop by and listen to our silly little podcast. If you somehow stumbled upon this page without really knowing what we are all about, let's break it down for you.

Are We Conspiracy Theorists?

For legal reasons, no. We don't really believe in the super crazy conspiracies.

However, we are interested in conspiracies and what makes them fun, and we like to indulge in theories. Isn’t it more fun to think that aliens and cryptids are running around than that phenomena are easily explained? Wouldn’t it be cool if celebrities have been replaced with body doubles and no one noticed? Whether or not people believe in them, conspiracy theories have garnered affection--a lot of people have a “favorite,” even if they don't admit it. Plus, oftentimes people don’t realize they have subscribed to a conspiracy theory, but their skepticism of a certain event or belief has classified them as a “conspiracy theorist.”

How Will People Know You're Kidding?

We call our podcast "Fake Believe." It's kind of in the name.

In all honesty, though, we try to make sure people know that the show is dripping with sarcasm. Furthermore, we have agreed to not share conspiracies that are damaging or could be confused with something real. Spreading misinformation is harmful, but sharing folklore and funny stories is not. These “fun” conspiracies really have no bearing on the world, and they aren’t causing any harm to others. A belief could be spiritual, emotional, or logical. Suspension of disbelief is a crucial element to the “fun” conspiracies.

Are Any Conspiracies "Off Limits?"

Absolutely.

We do not want to share conspiracies that are inherently political, offensive, or harmful. By "harmful," we mean it promotes misinformation that could negatively impact a person's health, finances, or well-being. This production is all in good fun, and we don't want anyone to be in distress. Furthermore, we will stay away from private citizens and focus on public figures, or individuals who have agreed to be in the public light. We're not here to ruin any lives or reputations.

What is a Cryptid?

A cryptid is a creature who has not been officially recognized and may not even exist. This does not include extinct animals, as we have been able to prove their existence at one point. Cryptozoology is the study of cryptids, and they do what they can to discover the beings that we might not yet know. Classic examples include Bigfoot and El Chupacabra.

Are You Actually Starting a Cult?

Again, for legal reasons, no.
